Bernadette’s friend Steve wanted a piece that would bring his love for surfing and the redwoods into his home. Bernadette created this commissioned piece, West Coast Sunrise, from an abstract idea of his love for nature and surfing and a poem that Steve emailed her.

The piece is contained within a light box and whether the lights are on or off, the water hitting the shore, the rising of the sun, the surfer on a wave, and the fisherwoman casting her line, are all alive with movement.
